Our Program
The Y Team is a health and mental health program of YMCA of the East Bay. We contract with the Mental Health Department of Contra Costa County and the West Contra Costa Unified School District to provide school-based health and mental health services throughout the district. The Y Team provides:
Services are provided at school sites, at client's homes and at our clinic.
West Contra Costa is rich in cultural diversity. Parts of the region have severe economic difficulties, resulting in psycho-social stressors that can accompany poverty. Issues faced by the community include a high level of violent crime, drug and alcohol abuse and family disruption due to incarceration and difficulty maintaining jobs and housing.
Clients come from traditional and non-traditional families. Some live with one parent, two parents, blended or step-families, older siblings, grandparents, aunts & uncles, guardians, group or foster homes.
The mission of the Y Team is to provide every client with the opportunity to be successful in school and in the future. Y Team clients range in age from 5-18 years and can refer themselves for counseling, or be referred by teachers, parents, staff or other concerned adults.
